March 27, 2013 More theme parks will be added to Iskandar Malaysia, joining the newly launched Legoland and Hello Kitty theme parks for a total of six. The Iskandar Regional Development Authority (IRDA) is eyeing up to six international theme parks in Iskandar Malaysia, Johor, within the next two or three years. Its CEO Datuk Ismail Ibrahim said Iskandar Malaysia currently has two theme parks — Legoland Malaysia and Hello Kitty theme park. “We are currently in talks with several international theme park companies and we will be making the announcement at the appropriate time. “We are not in the position to reveal the names yet as discussions are still going on,” he told Bernama on the sidelines of the second Global Free Trade & Special Economic Zones Exhibition and Summit here yesterday. Malaysia - Kimlun Medini Buys Land For RM31.06 mil

April 1, 2013 Two parcels of land totalling 2.149 ha in Nusajaya, Johor Bahru, has been acquired by Kimlun Medini Sdn Bhd. Kimlun Medini Sdn Bhd has entered into a lease purchase agreement with Medini Land Sdn Bhd to acquire two parcels of freehold land for RM31.06 million. Kimlun Medini is wholly-owned by Kimlun Corp Bhd. In a filing to Bursa Malaysia, Kimlun Corp said the two parcels of land, totalling 2.149 hectare, is located adjacent to each other within the Nusajaya flagship zone in Johor Baru. "Kimlun Medini plans to develop serviced apartments, offices and retail properties on the land. The development is expected to commence within 24 months and slated for completion within six years," it said. Kimlun Corp is confident that the development would be well received given its strategic location. – Bernama

The number of Subway outlets in Malaysia will grow to 150 by the end of 2013, including openings planned in new states throughout the country. Subway Malaysia plans to expand its reach in Malaysia by expanding the number of outlets from 123 to 150 by the end of the year. "Our goal this year is to identify potential prospects nationwide and widen our reach to other states," said Subway Malaysia development agent Datuk Vincent Choo. He noted that the brand value of Subway has been growing steadily in the past three years with customer satisfaction exceeding the company's expectations. Subway president and co-founder Fred DeLuca said he remained confident that Asia will experience the biggest expansion this year. In 2012, Subway added 365 outlets throughout Asia, making it the world's biggest contributor in terms of growth.
